The Summer School is organised through cooperation by the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany, Jena) and the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism (Russia, Kazan). The project will be sponsored by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) by means of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research Germany.

The Friedrich Schiller University is one of the largest and oldest universities in Germany. The Friedrich Schiller University is the only comprehensive university in Thuringia that offers all academic subjects with medicine, natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities. It has a wide range of study options, excellent research and teaching, and a large network of students and teachers. In total, there are over 200 different courses of study with different degrees (Bachelor, Master, State Exam, etc.).

Around 20,000 students are currently enrolled at the traditional Friedrich Schiller University, including around 2,200 international students. Over 50 partner universities from all over the world offer intercultural exchange programmes for a semester abroad. More than 300 professors and 4,000 employees are committed to good teaching and ensure an excellent learning environment. Together with internationally active companies such as ZEISS, Jenoptik or SCHOTT and independent institutes such as Max-Plank, Leibnitz or Fraunhofer Institutes, Jena offers a particularly successful scientific network. As a teaching and research institution, it enjoys high recognition all over the world.

Chair of Sports Economics and Health Economics (University of Jena)

The Chair of Sports Economics and Health Economics (FSU Jena) is one of the most prestigious chairs of the higher education system in Germany and trains qualified employees in the field of sports- and health economics. In the context of their research, the employees of the chair of sports economics and health economics deal with topics like quality management in sports associations, analysis of individual sports markets and commercialisation of sports.

The chair is the main sponsor of the bachelor's degree in “Sports Management” at the University of Jena. In addition to teaching and research, the chair organises the Jena Sports Management Conference every year and takes on a variety of advisory tasks.

The head of the chair is Prof. Dr Frank Daumann. At present, the chair employs six employees and five assistants.

The State University for Physical culture, Sports and Tourism in the Volga region is part of the legacy of the twenty-seventh Summer Universiade which was held in 2013 in Kazan. The university has three faculties and twelve academic chairs. At the moment, 2.800 students from seventy regions of Russia as well as from thirteen countries worldwide take classes in twenty-one study programmes. Students are able to receive training in nineteen sports. Sports instructors, coaches of the sports colleges, physiotherapists, employees of the centres for sports, wellness and rehab, sports managers, management personnel for occupational facilities, organisers of the sport mass gathering events as well as profession tourism and service employees are being trained at the university.

The sports university is characterised by the high quality of its scientific work, modern equipment, broad experience in international cooperation, a high public reputation, a broad network of contacts with national sports providers and professional employees.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world's largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and scientists. Since it was founded in 1925, the DAAD has supported around 2.6 million academics in Germany and abroad. It is promoted  as an association by the German universities and student bodies. Its activities go far beyond the awarding of scholarships: the DAAD promotes the internationalisation of German universities, strengthens German studies and the German language abroad, supports developing countries in setting up high-performance universities and advises decision-makers on education, foreign science and development policy. To this end, it maintains a network of over 70 foreign offices (including one in Russia) and supports around 440 lecturers worldwide

In 2019, the DAAD, including the EU programmes, funded more than 145,000 Germans and foreigners around the world. The offer ranges from a year abroad for young students to doctoral studies, from internships to visiting lectureships, from informational visits to setting up universities abroad.

The BMBF is the highest federal authority in the Federal Republic of Germany and is therefore instrumental in promoting education, science and research in Germany.

The tasks of the BMBF are diverse. On the one hand, the BMBF is largely responsible for legislation in various areas. This primarily includes the area of ​​extracurricular vocational training and further education as well as training funding. On the other hand, the BMBF funds research in all areas of science. In addition, the next generation of academics as well as international exchange in training or further education or studies are promoted.
